What is dogging?
Dogging is a term used to describe when people have sex in public and sometimes in view of others or allowing others to join in with them.
It’s thought the phrase came about after dog walkers started to participate in “sexual” fun whilst dog walking. Usually dogging takes place in wooded areas or in country car parks and it can even involve total complete strangers either watching or getting involved sexually.
To some the thought of having sex in a public place like a car park in a country park or country lane, or someplace dark and secluded whilst other people watch or join in., Would be the ultimate turn off, but to others it sounds like the perfect idea of exciting sexual fun.
Dogging itself is technically not illegal but that does not mean you can commit acts in public and expect to get away with it.
You could be charged under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for indecent exposure, public lewdness and gross indecency among a whole load of other things, unless everyone present is there for the same thing and no passers-by witness this public display.
Participants often meet and share information online, and several websites contain lists of popular dogging locations across the whole of the UK and you will find links to these to the right.
The websites are constantly updating their lists of local hot-spots, dogging after dark in particular will update on a weekly basis with reports and news on newly found dogging spots and updates on any that have closed or been shut down with barriers or police presence.
